ENGINEERING AND ARCHITECTURE POSTGRADUATE STUDENT’S PERCEPTIONS ON SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

The construction sector is one of the main contributors to actual levels environmental stress, but also recognised as an essential promote human well-being, access education or poverty eradication through development infrastructures and services. Therefore, since recent establishment Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, architects civil engineers have emerged key actors for sustainable future which we all aspire. However, complexity sustainability claim fundamental changes current university curricula educate professionals who can meet such challenge. Conventional courses engineering architecture fall usually short providing a holistic where students adequately perceive relevance considering not only functional requirements their designs, social consequences. present communication aims provide assessment tool detect gaps based on post-graduate students’ perceptions design. A survey conducted from postgraduate “Models prediction optimization concrete structures” Master’s degree Concrete Engineering, “Innovation Management Construction Sector” Master's Degree Planning Civil both taught at Polytechnic University Valencia. consistency responses evaluated objectively Analytical Hierarchy Process method, thus bringing light educational fields special efforts shall be put when adapting towards sustainability.
